Bible Camp 2022

Bible Camp 2022 was a success again this year as we joined together with members of St Paul Lutheran Church. We saw lots of smiles and laughter, while learning all about Noah’s Ark. The children created crafts, played fun games (got a little wet!), and made lots of rain and thunder sounds while they sang. In addition, the adults and the children made new friends.

This year we collected enough offering to buy 2 pigs and 2 goats from the ELCA Good Gifts program. Blessings to all involved.

Bible Camp 2022 was held Monday-Wednesday, June 27-29, from 6-7:30 p.m. outside and was open to children ages 4 through those just finishing 5th grade.

Congratulations Confirmands!

Three of our youth affirmed their baptism on Pentecost Sunday 2022! Congratulations Madison, Ainsleee & Luke! Kudos for riding out the many delays during the pandemic.

World War II era service banner

First Lutheran will be displaying its World War II era service banner at the back of the sanctuary, through Independence Day. Then, as now, the banner honors those men and women past and present who served (and died) in defense of our nation. The blue stars represent those congregational members who served during World War II and the gold stars, the three individuals who gave their lives in that conflict.

Summer Camp!

It’s not too late to sign up for summer camp. Registration is accepted up to 10 days before camp starts, as long as there are slots open. Go to the www.lutherancamping.org website and check availability.

Summer camp brochures for Camp Nawakwa and Camp Kirchenwald are available in the church office for anyone wishing to spend a week or weekend at camp this summer. (Yes…they even offer an elder camp for 55+!)

First Lutheran, through the Faith Formation Committee, offers camp scholarships to cover 1/2 the cost for a week at camp, plus you are able to take the $20.00 CampPerson discount.

Support Lutheran World Relief’s efforts in Ukraine and Eastern Europe!

Thank-you for your generous contributions of items for the personal care kits for Lutheran World Relief, in support of Ukraine and Eastern Europe. We have collected enough supplies to reach our goal.

LWR PERSONAL CARE KIT ASSEMBLY: Thanks to all those who volunteered their time to assemble the personal care kits on April 24th. Your time and talents are very much appreciated.

One of our own – Ordained

Congratulations to Deacon Emily Orner on her ordination to the ministry of Word and Service, held here at First Lutheran Church of Carlisle, on Saturday.

Emily is the daughter of Sam and Robin Orner. She grew up attending First Lutheran and graduated in May from United Lutheran Seminary. She has been called by the Synod Council of the Delaware-Maryland Synod ELCA to serve at Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area.
